Speaker
Glen LeBoeuf, who each year graces us with his wonderful talks about Abraham Lincoln.  However, today he spoke much about Lafayette…being a great soldier who spent 5 years in prison in France after being in the USA for a while.  Offered to be head of France but declined and instead accepted an American offer (by Pres. Monroe) to join American forces and be involved with American politics.

Lincoln’s speech in Trenton was significant; it referred to the Battle of Trenton where soldiers without having shoes during snow season…who wouldn’t give up their battle.

Lincoln always thought of the Declaration of Independence as a wonderful guiding force by which America to live by.

While speaking to soldiers, Lincoln always wanted to impress upon them that future generations would have equal rights and privileges.  Frederick Douglas’s eulogy for Lincoln included the last stanza of his second inaugural address.
