Speaker: Gwen Love, of Lunch Break (13 years old), came to speak to us today and bring us up to date on what’s going on.
Had a capital campaign to raise funds for building renovation. Presently have a temporary Cert. of Occupancy and are painting the outside of the building. Former facility was inadequate, but the new facility is “…a nice place to be…”. She said that the clients have a better attitude at the new facility and are very appreciative of all support. They now have a welcome desk and reception area, a larger kitchen, a clothing closet, a dressing area for clothing selection, a new food selection (now several choices), a conference room, and financial workshops for clients. She asked for clothing donations as they anticipate even more demand of services. They need food and/or money to purchase food, and the preferable is money which can have a lower cost effect with providers.
50/50 $20 went to Robin, who so graciously donated it to Lunch Break. Thank you, Robin, from all of us!
Meeting ended at 1:20 PM

Speaker:
Richard Chrampanis – of Jersey Sports Zone, spoke to us about his interest in sports announcing. He grew up in Middletown and always wanted to be a sportscaster. He mentioned that New York is the #1 sports market, but he was assigned to a small town in Iowa, Bangor, Maine, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Two of his mentors were Warner Wolf and Bruce Beck. The former is on the Imus morning show; the latter doing sports casting with NBC for the last 18 years, and is it’s major sports anchor. Rich left Myrtle Beach last year to come back to Middletown and post on his new website, which has had over 1 million hits in the past year. His website-based business is different since he uses high-def video and audio. His website is www.shoresportszone.com. Rich noted that he was one of the people [for the last 15 years] who votes for who gets the Heismann trophy.
