Before I completely forget what happened at Rotary last week, I thought I might try to write the Cogs. Fortunately, I found my notes, without which, it would be a very, very short presentation.

Teddie played “God Bless America”, and we then pledged and 4-wayed.  Chuck was superb but long in returning thanks and we were off the lunch. Lunch consisted of sliced steak with teriyaki sauce, mashed potatoes, and veggies.  Barbara was in heaven with the molten chocolate cake for desert. Joe Greca brought along a guest, Jim Nobel, a web designer who has been with us before.  Jim, come back anytime, you are most welcome. Two Rotarians were celebrating anniversaries, Warren for 30 years in Rotary and Chris Z. for 1 year.  Congratulations to Warren and Chris. Let’s keep Warren in our thoughts, as he is again going through problems with his leg.  I believe that he is in, or is shortly going to rehab after surgery. Doc was fined for no pin, and Rob for being late.  That was it for the fines.

Happy $$$$$. Chuck started off for a “Happy Valentine”.  Barbara gave for her new grandson gaining weight. He is now up to 6 pounds. Teddie gave money for her great, great grandchild, and Chris Z gave for his son turning 17.  Our insurance agent, Chris Ryan, gave for all the 17-year-old boys that will be getting their license.  Addie gave money for her Vocational Service Award, and brought it in to show everyone.  Nice job Addie.

Remember, Darren, PETS is the 24th and 25th of this month.  You can’t afford to miss this.  Actually, Harriet, Bill, Chuck, Ken and I, along with Darren will be going down on Thursday and enjoying the annual Horton S Hickerson appreciation dinner at Ruth’s Chris. March 16th is the Lombardi Dinner at the Sheraton, and tickets are $55. April 20th is Career Day for our Club, and we need volunteers to take some of the interested students.  April 22nd is the RLI in West Orange, and on April 24th, we have our Food and Wine.  May 5th ,6th, and 7th is the Multi District Conference in Gettysburg.  This is the first time we are joining other districts for a conference, and it should be fun. Go online to register. Remember, it’s fun, I’ll be there.

Our program for the meeting was the Association of the United States Army, (AUSA).  Col Ret, Samuel Fuoco, the president of the Monmouth Chapter was the speaker. The Monmouth chapter consists of some 36 corporate members, and 650 individual members.  Last year the chapter was selected as the best of all of the 119 chapters worldwide. Their goal is to serve soldiers and their families.  They do this by raising money, public awareness, and education.  Their main focus for them seems to be the “Fisher Houses” similar to Ronald McDonald Houses, where service families can stay when the soldier, or a family member is hospitalized.  There are 72 of these homes.

Robin was our lucky 50-50 winner, and she said she took away $30.

Darren, don’t forget PETS this coming weekend. It’s important for you, and the Club.
