Speaker
Pete McCarthy is the manager of Sandy Hook; he was transferred there in 2009. He started with the park service in 1992. He gave a power point presentation on Sandy Hook.  It was built in 1764 and has been continually in use since. . Sandy Hook is officially known as Gateway National Recreational Area.  There 36 officer buildings that are falling apart.  They are now trying to lease them out.  Two have been leased out. One has been rented for residential use.  The other one was taken over by the Park Service. Brookdale Community College is collaborating on future designs.  The Park Service building is used as a design possibility for future tenants. They are looking to remake the space as a bar and lounge, restaurant or educational use. Pete listed the criteria to rent the buildings. If you are interested, it is on line.  The Park Service is now working on restoration of the Light House; they have $900,000 set aside for this project.
