Lauren:
Chris (RBR Guidance Counselor): Intro to Lauren
University of Delaware, Star 3rd base, studying biomedical field, volunteers at these 3 places: Red Bank Recreation, Shrewsbury volley ball, ralley cap sports.
She would like to thank RBR, her Parents, and Rotary.
 
Rachel:
Mrs. Kemp (RFH): Intro to Rachel:
Rachel leads by example, gives back to the community with the girls on the run.
Moved from Ridge H.S., going to UUC Wilmington, went to Rotary summer camp and she would like thank Rotary and someday join Rotary.
 
Renamed one scholarship after Dr. Anthony Micale
Dr. Anthony Micale Scholarship: “I just want people to find where they should be in life”.

Introduction to Jack by senior instructor
She said jack is a seasoned athlete in rowing in track avid volunteer Eagle Scout 95% GPA, going to Notre Dame and most of all a gentleman
Jack would like to thank Dr. Micale, rotary, commander Tracy and would like to give back to the community like rotary someday *Dr. Micale’s wife presents him with a scholarship and says how proud her husband would have been of Jack.*

Prez. Elect. Darren called the meeting to order, filling in for Prez. Ken.

Invocation by Bill Saloukas

 

Lunch: Caesar Salad, Chicken & Cheddar Jack Quesadillas with  Paella Rice and Salsa. Dessert: Apple Pie with Whipped Cream

 

Very low attendance  (some members were attending the R.I. International Conference in Atlanta)

 

Anniversaries: Steve and Sandy Sanfilippo - 25 years June 6th.

Prez. Ken, Jay and Al’s were announced prematurely. Their anniversaries are later in the month.

 

Happy Dollars: Robin for Senator Beck and Shower was great, Mike T. for good medical report, Chuck for the R.I. Conf. in Atlanta and for his next door neighbor (Sen. Beck), Harry for Senator Beck, Bill D for Atlanta, Horton’s not here and Bill also said that Sue said she was so happy to be married  to him, Addie for Senator Beck, Rob for Senator Beck and he doesn’t  really miss Horton, for his niece who got married and for his other niece who graduated from MIT and is now making robots.

 

State Senator Jennifer Beck discussed, explained and answered questions regarding the following items of interest:

Gas Tax - Billion Dollar Tax Hike. The second automatic increase will be determined August also the creation of a four member panel.

Mandated Pension Forfeiture for Corruption bill which she is sponsoring (S2947).

Consolidation and Shared Services (S1 – Beck).

The Minimum Wage.

Veteran Deduction - $3000. Deduction on gross income.

Retirement Income Exclusion.

Estate Tax Repeal.

Naval Weapons Station Earle. Renting housing to general public.

Transportation Projects – Route 35 resurfacing and Route 527/Route 34 Intersection.

School Funding. Red Bank Public Schools – an exceptional school system  gained 215 students 2011 -2016, Local Fair Share is $2,669,752 under what State suggests. State underfunds by $6,452,606.

Affordable Housing Obligation: Red Bank – Three proposed sets of numbers – Generally 1 affordable unit is constructed for every 5 market rate units. Fair Share Housing Center – 630 affordable units Council of Affordable Housing 3rd Round – 1054 affordable units

Econsult – 140 affordable units

Supreme Court Decision on Affordable Housing – Prior round 1987 to 1999 – An Additional 436 affordable units.

Senior Freeze Act – Application deadline is extended to October 18m 2017

2015 Homestead Rebate – Anticipated release date – Summer 2017
